"Quick! Answer this riddle: Three frogs are sitting on a lily pad. One decides to jump off. How many frogs remain on the lily pad?"
Three... since just thinking about doing something doesn't make it happen.
I came across this yesterday in a book by David Cottrell titled Monday Morning Choices--12 Powerful Ways to Go From Everyday to Extraordinary. Ok, so I am a sucker for self-help books and will be sharing some of the titles from my vast collection from time to time here in this blog.
I have created this blog for 3 reasons:
1. I have always wanted to write a book and haven't (yet), so this gets me writing.
2. In just 25 short weeks from today I will be 60 years old. More on that later.
3. I have decided to raise $100,000 to donate to Civic Ventures [www.civicventures.org] for a Purpose Prize and this is my way of jumping off the lily pad. More on that later, too.
Yes, I just decided this today, but something has been stirring in my soul since I "discovered" this amazing group a few years back. So I decided to take action. Right now. Today. No going back.
I hope you will join me on this journey.
Awesome! Now you have someone watching your progress. What more do you need for motivation?!

What wonderful goals Janet! Congratulations on your decision. I'll be looking forward to watching these projects unfold.

Mike, Kate, thanks for your support! I already have some commitments and will be contributing $50 for each new Send Out Cards account I get, so I need to get the bank account set up for the Purpose Prize fund ASAP. I hope lots of people will want to be part of this adventure, and that they will read about Civic Ventures and the Purpose Prize winners (all over 60!)and be inspired by them. Spread the word!
